Congratulations to Mrs. Janine Robles who was selected as our Instructional Support Person of the Year. She will represent GSSK8 at the District level where she will compete against other employees nominated by SCCPSS schools for this esteemed honor.

The district provides the opportunity for students to make up 5 absent days per semester. GSSK8 is offering afterschool attendance recovery. Students would need to attend two after-school sessions to make up one day. Middle School students can sign up for Monday and Thursday sessions. Grades 3-5 students can sign up for Monday/Tuesday or Tuesday/Wednesday sessions. The sessions will be held from 3:00pm-4:30pm. You can reach out to your classroom teacher or Mrs. Kight (karen.kight@sccpss.com) to sign students up for this service. Once the request is received, a date to attend will be assigned to the student.
Grades K-2 can work with your homeroom teachers to complete assignments to make up for the absence.

We're thrilled to launch the Ignite Literacy Program for some of our first-grade learners! With leadership from Dr. Nicole Henry-Beacher and Ms. Kaydian Armstrong, students will receive individualized virtual reading support to strengthen foundational literacy skills, build confidence, and inspire a lifelong passion for learning. This is an exciting step forward for our young readers, and we look forward to celebrating their success throughout the year.
